Music is the universal language of the soul, it translate our thoughts into emotions. Chiba Fly is dedicated to writing lyrics with a universal message that will inspire the soul to stand up and dance. Chiba Fly means peace, love, harmony and respect. Chiba Fly believes that music connects all forms of life, through a cosmic energy. Therefore we as humans should live in harmony with the rest of the living world.
Today Chiba Fly groove with Joe Voges on acoustic guitar & vocals, Johnathan Georgiades on bass, David Georgiades on drums Ilimar Neitz on lead guitar and Andries Bruyns on didgeridoo and other musical instruments that he collects from all over the world. Joe Voges Joe grew up in a family of seven where music and art was part of everyday living. He taught himself to play on his dad’s guitar in primary school, in high school he took on the snare drum in the marching band.
After high school he studied Landscape Architecture at the University of Pretoria and travelled the country designing and installing gardens for the next 10 years after school. In this time he lost his sister in a traumatic event that started a soul journey where he searched for his true purpose in life.
Joe decided to quit the corporate world and design and install gardens with spiritual intent to enrich people’s lives, while giving them hope through his music. Joe writes the lyrics and music for Chiba Fly. Jonathan Georgiades Jonathan grew up in a musical family inheriting his natural talent.
He got a degree for Jazz Guitar at Pretoria Technikon, while playing bass and lead guitar in bands such as SLT, Action Thrillers, Baobab, Pennies from Heaven, Gordon’s suitcase and Namuh to name a few.
In the last 14 years Jonathan also studied the fine arts of sound engineering. These days he also runs his own sound company. Johnathan eats, sleeps and breathes music it is his life and his chick!
David J Georgiades is Jonathan’s identical twin brother this is a cause for a lot of confusion in Chiba Fly! Luckily for us he also inherited the same talents!
Dave loves to fish and has travelled the world exploring remote fishing spots. Dave is a perfectionist when it comes to drumming; he always plays with a timer on his ears. These days he spends all his spare time playing for Namuh, The Aidan Martin Band and Chiba Fly.
Andries Bruyns Has been making didgeridoo's since 1991, this has paid for his studies as an Interior designer and some travelling witch introduced him to various cultures and instruments from all over the world.
Tragically he got caught in a fence wire while he tried to put out a bush fire on his plot. Andries burned most of his body and the professional opinion was that it would take a miracle to save his body and lungs. Andries pushed through several operations and refused to give up.
These days he has completely regained his lung capacity by playing the digeridoo every day. You can find Andries hosting a drumming circle on his plot Klitsgras every second Friday.
