The love affair between South Africa and The Great Moscow Circus goes on. Sold out visits in Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth and Durban plus an amazing 2016/17 visit to Montecasino have convinced producers of The Great Moscow Circus to take the show to Carnival City just in time for the Easter school holidays.
“Reaction to our show around the whole country has been quite extraordinary. We clearly underestimated the demand for seats when we sold out over the festive season, so we have arranged a brief Easter school holiday season back in Johannesburg at Carnival City,” says Executive Producer Lizzie Coles. “Our artists love Johannesburg: the city’s people, its energy and the amazingly enthusiastic response of the audiences. We can’t help it. It feels like coming home, and we’re really terribly excited. We can’t wait!”
The Great Moscow Circus is a two-hour spectacular featuring the best from Russia plus circus superstars from around the world. Amazing acrobats, spectacular daredevil motor cycle riders in the Globe of Death, brilliant clowns, unbelievable magic, 50 stunning artists plus the most handsome, charming and charismatic Ringmaster ever seen. They are all coming to Carnival City.
And – naturally – the mighty red and white Big Top Circus Tent is where it can all be seen. The Big Top is an attraction all on its own – fully seated and air conditioned!

The Great Moscow Circus’ Carnival City Johannesburg season opens on Friday, March 31. But it’s strictly for a limited season!
“For those in Johannesburg who missed the Christmas season and for those fans who want to make a second visit, now’s your chance. Past experience says that tickets will sell fast so we urge people to book early. The Great Moscow Circus and its Big Top Tent were last in South Africa ten years ago. Don’t risk waiting another decade for an opportunity to experience all the thrills and excitement of one of the greatest shows to hit South Africa,” says Ms Coles.
Tickets are now on sale at Computicket outlets nationally and online. Ticket prices range from R195 to R595 per person with discounts available for children.

Louise Carver Releases Her Brand New Album ‘Hanging In The Void'
Louise Carver Releases Her Brand New Album ‘Hanging In The Void'
Gallo Record Company is proud to announce the release of Louise Carver’s brand new album ‘Hanging In The Void’.
Louise Carver releases her finest studio album to date as ‘Hanging In The Void’ is officially out on CD and on all Digital platforms nationwide.
‘Hanging In The Void’ is Louise Carver’s most heartfelt and emotionally stirring album. First single “Lift Off” launches the album with a powerful message of hope and belief, and stand out tracks “Remedy”, “Time Stood Still”, “Your Love Is Like” and “All the Lessons” all tell a story of a tough personal journey that lead to creating one of the best records of 2016.
Louise Carver answers 3 Questions about the new release ‘Hanging In The Void’:
What was the inspiration behind the writing of the album? “I was very clear that I wanted to go back to a production that’s job is to support the song and not dominate it. The song had to be strong enough to stand on its own with lyrics and melody that created powerful emotions. I have always and will always write about what I have felt and experienced - to be authentic and reach people emotionally is what I do this for.”

Which songs on the album mean the most to you? “Each song has been
been so lovingly written and then produced so it is really difficult to choose any favourite but the one that still hurts to hear it is, ‘All the lessons’ and the song that makes me feel so proud to be a working songwriter is ‘Lift Off’ as I know it will encourage people to shift gears and find courage. I love the energy of ‘Keep your eyes on me’ and the late night nostalgia of ‘Your love is like’. Each song on the album is part of me and hopefully becomes part of people who love the album.”
How did you decide on the album title: “I was sitting in a pancake restaurant with my US producer, Joe Bermudez in Boston and we were talking about the awareness or cognitive shift astronauts get when they view earth for the first time from a space ship - how insignificant everything on earth seems compared to the bigger picture. He told me the sensation is called ‘hanging in the void’, and I instantly knew that was the right name for my new album.”
Carver has had multiple radio hits with singles such as ‘Empty Fantasy’, ‘It Don’t Matter’ and ‘Warrior feat. Zulu Boy’and ‘Hanging In The Void’ is set to deliver many more radio and fan favourite singles. The album was recorded with one of SA’s finest producers Mark Beling and is arguably Carver’s best work.

‘Hanging In The Void’ is available for digital download and in music stores nationwide.
“Acclaimed, multi-platinum selling, Oscar, Golden Globe and 10x Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter John Legend has released his highly-anticipated new album, DARKNESS AND LIGHT the follow up to his critically acclaimed release Love in the Future which featured the global smash, All of Me.
John's approach to creating this album was different than usual; he worked primarily with one producer, Blake Mills who is perhaps best known for his work on the Alabama Shakes album, which was John's favorite album last year (and also won Album of the Year).

Added to this, the album has more live instrumentation than some of his previous work, with well known, in demand session players including Pino Palladino and Chris Daddy Dave. John himself actually plays very little on this album. As always, though, John's musical message is spreading love, even in the midst of darkness in the world - the inspiration behind the album's title.

Idols SA Season 12 Winner NOMA Releases Brand New Single ‘Moving On’ Featuring Sketchy Bongo
Idols SA Season 12 Winner NOMA Releases Brand New Single ‘Moving On’ Featuring Sketchy Bongo
NOMA ended 2016 on high note winning the 12th season of IDOLS SA and releasing her debut album ‘Joy’ just a few weeks after. She kicks off 2017 with her brand new second single ‘Moving On’ taken from her debut album, collaborating with one of SA’s top producers Sketchy Bongo. The prolific hit maker is no stranger to the radio airwaves with a string of hits and platinum singles under his belt, as a producer and part of the Durban movement, the Wolf Pack.
‘Moving On’ is the second single from Noma’s debut album and follows her Idols SA winning single ‘Want It To Feel Like It Did With You’ which was a Top 20 download on iTunes.
The single is released to all radio this week and has already been playlisted on 5FM after its debut on The Thando Thabooty Show. It was also on this radio show during an interview with Noma right after her Idols SA win that the Sketchy Bongo collab came about.

A big nod for Noma as Sketchy Bongo has had multiple chart-topping hits under the belt with Kyle Deutsch & Shekhinah’s ‘Back To The Beach’ which is still one of the hottest holiday or Summer singles, Kyle Deutsch and Aewonwolf’s ‘Wild Side’, Shekhinah’s ‘Let You Know’, Locnville’s ‘Cold Shouder’, and the single with Jimmy Nevis ‘All About It, to name but a few.
Sketchy Bongo comments, “Noma was great to work with. I heard her on idols and tweeted no matter whether she wins or not, I definitely want to work with her. Then she won and was on a radio interview and she said she wanted to work with me and I tweeted at the station and made it happen with her label, Gallo.

Working with her was easy and her vocal is amazing. Kyle Deutsch came to the studio and helped write some lyrics and we laid down something great and timeless.”

Twenty-one of the country’s top comedians are joining forces with Comedy Central (DStv channel 122) to make Mzansi comedy fans fall head-over-heels in love with home-grown stand-up comedy.
Passionately lining up to support comedy and the comedic arts, and to encourage South Africans to appreciate and consume more local comedy are: Celeste Ntuli, Ndumiso Lindi, Dillan Oliphant, Lihle Lindzy, Deep Fried Man, Conrad Koch, Chris Forrest, Barry Hilton, John Vlismas, Nina Hastie, Suzelle DIY, Donovan Goliath, Nick Goliath, Robby Collins, Richelieu Beaunoir, Simmi Areff, Mojak Lehoko, Ebenhaezer Dibakwane, David Kau, Yaaseen Barnes and Joey Rasdien. Further comedians will join the campaign throughout the year.
Kicking off on Valentine’s Day, the campaign will see the 21 comedy luminaries starring in a fun new Comedy Central promotional campaign that will run on TV, billboards and social media throughout the year.
Throwing dignity and caution to the winds, the comedians have filmed a range of adorable stunts, slo-mo clips, face-offs and silly promos showing them interacting humorously with dogs, beach balls, glitter, pom poms, balloons and much more, using the props in a comic way to represent their own personal “brand” of comedy.
Commented Dillon Khan, Senior Channel Director, Comedy Central, Africa and Creative Services VIMN Africa, “Comedy Central is on a mission to make life funnier, and to support the local comedy scene; we are delighted at the amazing response we have had from these great comedians in the interest of fighting every day monotony and the forces of boredom! We’re proudly saying there is nothing more entertaining than comedy. Premier League…Cricket…. Cinema… nothing beats laughter.”
In the coming months, the 24 hour comedy network and official “home of funny” is “standing up” for South African comedy and comedians by increasing the volume of local comedy programming on the channel including – for the first time – vernacular and Afrikaans’ comedy which will feature on the channel from April 2017. Among the many South African comedians you’ll see on the channel in comedy specials in the coming months are: John Vlismas, Masood Boomgard, Kwanda Radebe, Tyson Heffer, Alfred Adriaan, Jem Atkins, Deep Fried Man, Marc Lottering, Loyiso Gola and Neville Pillay.
“Music can define us. It’s not just what we listen to but it’s a part of who we are.”
– Black Motion, Ballantine’s ambassador and award-winning music duo
What are the sounds of a nation? What beats and rhythms do its people make? If Africa were an album, what would it sound like? Ballantine’s Scotch Whisky has begun a journey to discover the answers to these questions.
Partnering with SAMA-winning, platinum-selling duo Black Motion, Ballantine’s wants to find the sounds that make South Africa – and Africa – unique.

Then, by collecting, curating and collaborating, use those everyday sounds, rhythms and beats to co-create one incomparable album: the Ballantine’s Beat of Africa.
Music is the heartbeat of Africa. It inspires us, moves us and brings us together. The partnership between Ballantine’s and Black Motion is rooted in authenticity and music; the belief that staying true to what you believe in produces results beyond expectation.

The Beat of Africa will echo this ethos by creating an album that is distinctly unique; the product of country and continent-wide sharing, collaboration and a common love of African-inspired music.
That’s why Ballantine’s wants you to help discover the Stay True song of a nation, the everyday sounds and rhythms that make South Africa the place it is. The sound of a continent, born in the streets of a country. You decide what the #BeatOfAfrica is.
Check out the video with more information on how to submit your sound, here:
Ballantine’s Beat of Africa will be an epic six-month campaign across five countries – South Africa, Angola, Cameroon, Zambia and Mozambique with local ambassadors at the helm for each.
The campaign begins with your submissions. Everyone is encouraged to share the sounds, rhythms and beats you feel define your nation and make it home. Share your sounds, images or words describing sounds at, or tag a link on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with #BeatOfAfrica.

Every submission stands a chance to win an all-expenses paid, VIP trip for two to the Beat of Africa album launch party in Johannesburg later in the year.

Black Motion’s own sound is defined by the unordinary: the beats that come from staying true to their music. This is why they are the perfect ambassadors to help create an album made up of sounds that redefine the ordinary. Says the duo: “When we are in studio we don't like to rush things; we take our time. We are not intimidated by the next big thing or act, we stay true to ourselves and we stay true to our music”.
In the coming weeks, Beat of Africa will move into the sound selection phase. Local Ballantine’s ambassadors in each country will spend time choosing the best sounds to create a track that captures the beat of their nation. From there comes the production process which will see the Ballantine’s ambassadors mixing the everyday sounds to capture the pure passion and raw talent in studio and co-create a one-of-a-kind album - the Ballantine’s Beat of Africa. More updates will be available as the campaign rolls out.

One big name on a hit single is great, but when you bring two superstar voices together you get something special. When people talk Kahn Morbee or Karen Zoid, the first thing that comes to mind is successful musicians that have been providing fans with memorable music for close on two decades. But something that many people may never have envisaged has happened - these two icons of South African music have teamed up to create their first collaboration masterpiece with the release of 'We Could Be Divine'.
Written backstage on-set of The Voice SA between rehearsals and recorded in the now iconic Bellville Studios under the creative guidance of Theo Crous, Kahn and Karen have created a track that they feel embellishes beauty in a world of chaos that they hope many people can associate with.
"Teaming up with Karen has been an awesome experience and the song creation was entirely organic and effortless, - she's become a great friend and the process of working together will be a memory I cherish forever" says Kahn. "Working on the Voice SA together allowed us to morph in to each other's creative spaces - and between rehearsals and everything else, we worked on different ideas and in the end we came with something that we are both looking forward to sharing with the world"
Karen is one of South Africa’s premier female rock artists, coach on The Voice SA and currently hosts her own talk show Republiek van Zoid Afrika on KykNet.
Kahn rose to fame as the front man of legendary South African band The Parlotones and launched his solo career in 2015 with the release of his first single, “The Candle" from his debut album 'Salt'. Kahn currently sits alongside Karen, Bobby van Jaarsveld and Lira as a coach on The Voice SA.
We Could Be Divine is now available on iTunes through Gallo Record Company.
